So to find Katie sleeping in a dog bed with Sadie's face so close to hers last week as Katie continued to recover from her surgery...well, we had to get a few pictures.
They slept together like this for awhile. It was comforting to see them like this.
(Shot with the Nikon D600 and 18-35mm zoom at 35mm; aperture-priority, with aperture set to f/4.5; shutter speed of 1/15 second at ISO 6400; auto white balance; imported and converted to black-and-white using Lightroom; normal JPG.)
Beautiful. I don't know who was there first, if Katie actually sought out Sadie for comfort or if Sadie knew Katie needed some comforting and went and lay with her but it shows they do have a very strong bond and love for each other. I would have had to take photos too :)
ReplyDeletei don't remember who got there first. sadie did edge closer to katie, though, and kate did not mind.
Deletegayle got some better pictures of this than i did.
The sister support system. What a sweet pic of your girls.
ReplyDeletethanks, gyeong. not only was it comforting to watch these two, but very peaceful as well.
DeleteThey look so sweet there together! I love that! I hope Katie keeps having great success with her recovery. :)
ReplyDeletewe've run into a snag with keeping her interested in food. it's a side-effect of chemo that they lose their appetite. it's a lot of work to find things that she'll keep eating. as a consequence our daughter's been syringe-feeding her to get the calories in.
DeleteThis is so sweet and heartwarming. Keep doing good, Katie.
ReplyDeleteshe's been feeling and acting more like herself before surgery. i'd mentioned in a FB post that for the past few days she's started rubbing her face on our carpet and sofa again after eating. she also tried to roach a couple of nights ago but failed. i don't doubt she'll try again soon and eventually succeed.
DeleteSuch a sweet photo! Very touching.
ReplyDeletethanks, abby. there have been more occasions now where they are a little closer together. sadie did try last night to get katie to play with her but i think that won't happen for a little while yet.
DeleteGorgeous photo.
ReplyDeletethanks. i just thought the picture might look better in black-and-white. i've always loved all the shades of gray that you get in b&w, plus i don't see many pictures of greyhounds in b&w, either.
