Je t'aime (1999 - 2014)

I had known Je t'aime ("I love you") from seeing her run in the Solvang Streak for a number of years (she had attended the West Coast Greyhound Gathering every year since it began in 2005). It wasn't until two years ago that I got to the chance to do a session with her in the Secret Garden of the Royal Copenhagen Inn. She was a beautiful brindle girl:

She was twelve at the time. There's something about a Greyhound face grown white with age that's so wonderful.

In April of last year (three months before Katie's amputation) she had a rear leg removed due to OSA and bounced right back.

This year will be the first Solvang gathering where she will not be there. She crossed the bridge on my birthday.

  1. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful girl. There is something about a grating face. Happy belated birthday.

    1. thanks, gyeong.

a graying face sometimes makes me melancholy because i start thinking about the inevitable. but it has such character that a young pup's face does not. it all evens out.

    1. i am fortunate that greyhound people have liked my pictures of our hounds and of other pups enough that they would entrust me to show how special their pups are as well. i would love to photograph as many retired racers (as well as active racers, and pups on the farm) as i possibly could.

    1. i tried to find any shade possible to photograph her. being in the shade instead of bright sunlight just appeals to me more.

  5. I remember her! That sweet white face was so endearing. Another bright light snuffed out by osteo. So sad.
