Hailey

At the GreySave picnic that I had posted some photos about earlier, I had a session to do with Hailey (aka "Bubba"). What a great girl she is. She was so easy to work with. Hilary (her owner), Hailey, and I walked a little ways away from the vendor area and stood under the numerous shade trees in the park. I had only 30 minutes or so to get something decent.

I  liked her appearance here:

But sometimes I can't leave well-enough alone, so in Lightroom I made a virtual copy of the original picture's virtual copy and added a faded photo preset:

I think I like how this came out better.

She has the biggest "heart" marking ever:

At the very end of the session she decided she wanted to go rolling in the grass and leaves on the ground. She enjoyed herself so much that she lost her head:

I had fun with her, and I hope to book a longer session with her soon.

(Shot with the Nikon D300 using the 50mm f/1.8 lens; aperture-priority, with aperture set to f/2.8; shutter speed varied from 1/400 second to 1/1600 second at ISO 400; center-weighted metered; -0.7 exposure compensation; auto white balance; shot in RAW.)

    Steve...Hailey looks like she has a lot of personality and you captured it! The heart spot is adorable. I love that you captured her rolling around.

    It looks like she's got a big personality to go with that big heart, and you really captured her beautifully! Which preset did you use to get the black and white picture? I love how that turned out!

      it's the "faded foto" with vignette preset that comes with lightroom. i turned down the exposure by -0.20 after i applied the preset.

    Thanks so much, Steve! When I met Hailey at her foster home, I was taken with her physical beauty, but what came out after I became her personal assistant was how beautiful she is on the inside. She radiates affection for everyone. The cleaning lady, the Mike Diamond Plumber, the Sears delivery crew... no one leaves the yard without giving into her.

    We really enjoyed working with you, Steve!

      hilary, the pleasure was all mine. it was a privilege to get the chance to meet hailey and you; i hope we can work something out where i photograph her at your place and take our time.
